About Lisa

I’m Lisa Cassidy — an epic fantasy author by day and a book nerd in every other spare moment I have. I write epic fantasy with fierce found family and worlds worth saving: high on heart, low on spice.

I’m also an unapologetic coffee snob with a home coffee setup that resembles a dark wizard’s experiment table, but I’m willing to accept all other hot-drink aficionados — even tea drinkers.

I live in Australia’s capital city, Canberra, and like all Australians I’m in pretty much constant danger from highly venomous spiders, crocodiles, sharks, and drop bears, to name a few. As you can see, I am also pro-Oxford comma.

A 2019 SPFBO finalist, and a finalist for the 2020 ACT Writers Fiction Award, I run Tate House, my independent publishing imprint. I'm the author of four completed adult and YA epic fantasy series, all chock-full of found family, high-stakes political intrigue, and character journeys that one reader described as ‘making me laugh, and cry, and everything in between’.

  • The Mage Chronicles — a complete YA magic academy series for readers who love: elemental magic, friendships forged in fire, and battles for the soul of a kingdom.
  • Heir to the Darkmage — the sequel series to The Mage Chronicles, for readers who love grey protagonists and themes of redemption and the fight to choose your own path
  • A Tale of Stars and Shadow — a complete adult epic fantasy series for readers who love political intrigue, found family, a grieving warrior who rebuilds herself from the wreckage, and a slow-burn romance that simmers in the background.
  • The Inkweaver Archive — a complete adult epic fantasy series for readers who love wyverns, powerful magic, sweeping worlds, and a fierce heroine coming into her own.

I'm currently buried away in my writing cave working on my latest series: Book of the Doomshroud. Beginning with Call of the Shadow Rift, this series returns to a world readers thought they knew; familiar faces and secrets that rewrite everything.

I've also partnered up with One Girl, an Australian charity working to build a world where all girls — no matter where they are born or how much money they have — enjoy the same rights and opportunities as boys. A percentage of all my royalties goes to One Girl.
